APPRAISAL DISTRICT GIS MAPS ADDED TO WEBSITE (02/05)

McLennan County Appraisal District is pleased to announce the addition of GIS maps and aerial photography to our website. Users of our "Property Search" feature can view property data detail as well as a map of the property. They also now have the ability to perform several searches with the maps. The aerial photography was taken in early 2005. Additional features and instructional documents will be added during the next several months.

Information on the new Residence Homestead Exemption for Disabled Veteran with 100% Disability

New legislation passed this year, HB3613, created a new disabled Texas veteran homestead exemption for those veterans who receive a 100% disability as determined by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The exemption exempts 100% of the homestead value of the veteran’s primary residence. The effective date of this bill is retroactive to January 1, 2009. An application must be filed for this exemption.

The steps to apply for this exemption with the McLennan County Appraisal District are outlined below:

• Obtain a copy of the Application for Residence Homestead Exemption for Disabled Veteran with 100 Percent Disability 2009. This form can be printed from the McLennan CAD web site or from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts web site at www.window.state.tx.us/taxinfo/protax.
• Complete the Application for Residence Homestead Exemption for Disabled Veteran with 100 Percent Disability 2009 form.
• Attach a copy of your existing letter of certification from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs that verifies a veteran’s specific percentage rating of disability or individual unemployability.
• Mail the completed form with certification attached to the McLennan County Appraisal District at P.O. Box 2297 Waco, TX 76703.
